Achelis Uganda Limited uses ToolSense to make asset operations more transparent, faster to document, and easier to manage. This customer story focuses on the operational change: cleaner asset data, quicker issue handling, and maintenance workflows that teams can follow in daily work.

Achelis Uganda Limited is the Ugandan arm of the Achelis Group, a 60-year-old German trading house with subsidiaries across East Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia. Hans Georg Hinterberger has been Managing Director of the Uganda operation for thirteen years. The company employs around 60 people and supplies roadworks, construction equipment, material handling and industrial machinery.

Renting out 80+ units across the country

Beyond selling, Achelis runs a sizeable operational-rental business, about 80 units in service, operated, maintained and serviced by Achelis under monthly contract. That means every breakdown, every service interval and every parts request runs through the Achelis field service team, with equipment spread across the country.

The pain wasn’t any single failure. It was the operational drag of phone calls and WhatsApp messages that never made it into the ERP, making it almost impossible to trace performance at the unit level. Where is the machine? When was it last serviced? When were the tyres changed? When did the last breakdown happen?

A vendor-neutral asset platform

Some of Achelis’s manufacturers offered their own asset-management tools, but they were always brand-specific. For a multi-brand dealer operation, that was a non-starter, Hans Georg needed one platform that worked across every line Achelis carries. ToolSense was a deliberate choice: vendor-neutral, with the depth of features the rental operation needed.

Manufacturer-specific solutions are limited to one brand. We needed an independent system that works across every line we represent.
